Pilasters Bring Elegance and Style to Any Room

July 24, 2015

The pilaster is one of the most important pieces of architecture you can include in your design. Used to connect friezes, cornices, capitals, corbels, and architraves, it fills out the entablature to form a solid piece of majestic beauty.

Pilasters provide the illusion of a full pillar. Thus, they are considered to be some of the strongest elements in room decor. They provide all the beauty, but require none of the special framing or construction techniques such as Diverse Welding, required to install pillars that hold up the roof or balcony. For an interior design to your new house just visit wall frames to give you more ideas. Pilasters are typically very simple in design. Their purpose is to tie the elements of the entablature or arcade together. At Art for Everyday, we offer four pilaster designs. The PLS F, P, and ST are each adorned with simple grooves designed to create a strong connection between floor and ceiling elements. Conversely, the PLS CH features a textured finish that is designed to make the pilaster stand out against the elements it is connecting. Searching for the perfect pilaster for your project? Contact Art for Everyday and we will be happy to walk you through our selection and help you make the right decision.
