Measuring 34″ long and 2.5″ in diameter, this piece of wood millwork is carved from solid soft maple, a close-grained hardwood that sands smooth and takes stain or paint evenly. The twist runs uninterrupted from end to end with no square blocks, so the post can be trimmed to the exact height of the case it fits. It can then be stained to match, as in the walnut nightstand shown.
This rope twist post was produced to a client’s approved drawing and carved on our multi-spindle CNC machines, which shape several posts at once so every twist matches across a full run. The same process applies to any custom rope post, barley twist leg, or spiral column you specify.
