Standing 33.63″ tall, this piece of wood millwork is machined from solid red oak, a strong, open-grained hardwood that holds fasteners well and takes stain readily. It can also be painted, as in the sage green island shown with a slatted lower shelf. The 25.63″ square section gives ample length for rails at both apron and shelf height, while the 8″ turned foot lifts the base visually off the floor.
