A deep 9″ head sweeps down in a smooth arc to a 4.5″ leg, and the sides carry a grooved arched panel that echoes the curve, adding tailored detail without carving. Placed on either side of a range, it creates the arched opening shown in the kitchen, and it works equally well under island overhangs, mantels, and open shelving.
Standing 30″ tall, this piece of wood millwork is machined from solid maple, a hard, close-grained hardwood that holds crisp groove lines and takes paint smoothly, as on the painted hood shown. The panel detail stops 6″ above the base, leaving a plain foot that sits cleanly on a countertop or plinth, and the full 9″ depth at the top gives a broad seat for a hood surround or shelf.
