New Collection Spotlight: The Acanthus Collection
July 24, 2015
The classics are considered classics for a reason. For those of our clients interested in a clean and classical look that recalls the best of Greco-Roman construction without succumbing to slavish emulation, we are launching the wood carvings and other wood products in the Acanthus Collection.
Like its name suggests, the Acanthus Collection is inspired by the leaves of the acanthus plant, which have long been a cornerstone of classical construction. In particular, it has earned enduring fame as the source of the partitioned leaves that embellish Corinthian capitals. However, where Corinthian capitals restricted themselves to the leaves and nothing but the leaves, our collection makes extensive use of the stems as well. The result is both florid and flowing, though not so much so that it begins to confuse the viewer with excessive flourish. Examples of said collection range from corbels with bold lines and subtle curves to rich mantels bearing scroll-work in the semblance of leaves. Each one made using beautiful hardwoods such as oak, maple, and walnut. For further inquiries related to either the Acanthus Collection or the rest of our products, please contact us as soon as time permits to speak with one of our representatives.
