Once our quality control team is content that all the blocks have been evenly squared, then they can be moved on to the next station to be templated. Using templates that already been cut from our master – the original design from which all designs are derived, the squared up blocks are cut-out for pre-machining processing.
Part of our philosophy is one of sustainability, resourcefulness and innovation, because of this, we usually get two opposing designs cut from the one squared block. Once the template has been drawn on the wooden block, a set of skilled hands will guide the shaping of the wooden component. At this stage the component begins to take shape through using the band saw to give piece a rough shape to the individual components.
When it has been completed rough cut components are loaded into selected CNC machines. These CNC machines have revolutionized the design industry and by using this state of the art technology we can reproduce our intricate designs quickly and accurately. The programming of the dimensions of every new design or custom piece is an arduous process and requires one of our skilled personal to slow run a sensor over every nook and cranny. Even the slightest hand jolt can throw all the machines programming out of sync so this mentally strenuous process can only take place that for a maximum of 25 minutes.
During this process the component may be moved to several different CNC machines until the all the pieces of the component are carved correctly. We have several high-tech machines that can produce turnings, half-rounds, and ropes in our manufacturing facilities. Once machining is completed, all rough craved components are then brought to hand carving and sanding department to make it a finished product ready to stain as needed.
