ART FOR EVERYDAY AND DESIGN GALLERIA

We here at Art For Everyday were delighted to be part of this beautiful design arrangement. Envisaged by Designer Laurie Lehrich of Design Galleria and containing Art For Everyday custom wood carving panels, the room evokes a sense of the exotic, while keeping it contemporary and cozy with soft furnishings and contrasting woods.
The cabinets in this room were made by Wm Ohs in conjunction with Art For Everyday. The wood specified for the room was knotty alder and because of this Art For Everyday carved the panels out of clear alder. The ensuing result meant there was no conflict between the two woods.
After corresponding with Art For Everyday, the artist and the cabinet manufacturer, Design Galleria determined how thick the panels needed to be. Wm Ohs then made these in advance of the rest of the job by creating a raised panel that also had a reverse raise on the back to provide more wood to carve into. The challenge for Art For Everyday was creating a panel that was ornate while still adhering to the functionality of the piece.
After drawing/designing several versions it was decided that the client wanted the aesthetic to reflect an antique motif which we gladly created. The carved panels were then shipped back to Wm Ohs where the rest of the job was finished and delivered.
Custom carvings such as this project have become a much bigger part of the Art For Everyday repertoire. Creating design solutions through collaboration with other parties is generally the most important and rewarding part of the project process.
