Why Details Matter in Interior Design

July 21, 2015

Creating the perfect room means bringing the right combination of details together in harmonious union. In contrast, a single detail out of alignment can constitute a serious blemish, thus ruining the overall presentation of its surroundings. Interior design details matter because of this potential, much more so than most homeowners might expect.

In part, the details matter in interior design because humans are predisposed to notice details that stand out from their surroundings. For example, if an element is either noticeable or a strong contrast with its surroundings, the beholder is bound to pick up on it. Seeing the stand-out element can influence a person’s impression of its surroundings for either the better or the worse. For example, if a room uses rich but tasteful furnishings in an attempt to emulate classical homes, the effect is ruined if one of its centerpieces happens to be a stylish, thoroughly modern, table painted a simple matte black. In contrast, the products seen in our traditional woodcarvings collection would cement the impression of classic elegance, while the modern classic woodcarvings collection would be better-suited to a more modern home. Please contact us at Art for Everyday to speak about implementing architectural woodcarvings in your home.
