Using Reclaimed Wood in Your Home
July 21, 2015
One of the best benefits of sustainable design is the use of reclaimed wood. Not only are you doing your part to preserve the old-growth forests, but you are also obtaining some of the choicest wood around. Here are some excellent ideas for using this valuable and decidedly rare natural resource:
Add an Accent Wall – Creating a complementary wall of rustic wood is a fantastic way to bring the outdoors in. Believe it or not, it works with modern décor as well as the traditional ones. Build a Headboard – If you only have a limited amount of reclaimed wood, put it to good use in a limited fashion by redesigning the headboard of your bed. Install a Mantel – Similarly, another great use for a small amount of reclaimed wood is in the mantel of your fireplace. If you have enough, add some complementary ribs on the side of the fireplace.
