Quality Mouldings Really Bring Value to a Room

July 24, 2015

Adding mouldng to a room is a great way to give it a more upscale look as well as bring a more cohesive and finished feeling to the room’s design as a whole. The following are a few tips for using high quality mouldings in your home:

  • Consider your furnishing – If you have large, bold pieces of furniture, then using a smaller moulding won’t cut it. You’ll want to compliment the style by using a more ornate and attention grabbing moulding.
  • Consider the height of your ceilings – If your ceilings are 10 feet or higher, then add one inch of width to your moulding for every foot of ceiling height. Just keep in mind that this doesn’t really work for ceilings lower than 10 feet (an eight inch wide moulding is going to look strange in a space with 8 foot tall ceilings.
  • Use two mouldings – Instead of using one wide moulding, you could use a narrow moulding and compliment it with a narrow trim – just paint them both the same color and they will look like one large, wide moulding.
